A personal favorite of mine, partly because of the moment, partly because of the person. Peter was the MC at Steve and Hanh’s wedding. As we stopped in Hanoi rush hour traffic, Steve’s hand emerges from the window of the car, extended an apple wedge. Pete leans over and obliges while a million motorbikes await a green light. Classic Hanoi.

Hanoi’s beautiful, but cluttered. One way to deal with visual clutter when shooting a moving object is to pan, freezing the subject and blurring all that unnecessary information. Another way is to shoot black and white, as color can sometimes be another unnecessary distraction – especially when the color just isn’t that great that day.
